In Kinshasa (DR Congo), the pediatric oncology unit at the University Clinics treats children with cancer but, unfortunately, cannot accommodate them between treatment cycles. This can lead to treatment abandonment for children whose families live hundreds of kilometers from Kinshasa.
Philanthropic funding made it possible to purchase a Parents’ House located right next to the Clinics, intended to provide free accommodation for sick children and the parents accompanying them for the entire duration of care, including between chemotherapy cycles.

La Petite Étoile Foundation is participating in this project to fund accommodation in this Parents’ House for 30 children aged 2 to 12 who are under or malnourished and whose malnutrition places them at risk of death, as well as 5 other children in cancer remission.
They are housed there safely with one parent and receive two meals per day. They benefit from abundant, healthy food (drinking water from a borehole and farm produce) essential to support them during chemotherapy. They can also attend classes at the House to maintain their school level.
Location : Kinshasa (DR Congo)
Total budget: € 50,000
Co-participants: La Petite Étoile Foundation, AB CFAO, Les Jeannots France Kongo, Rotary Club, CFAO Solidarités (Kinshasa)
Funding contributed by La Petite Étoile Foundation : € 8,000
