Funding merit-based scholarships
Funding merit-based scholarships to support studies or personal projects
Nearly 15% of young French people aged 18-25 are living below the poverty line.
Whether it is because they do not have the financial resources, or because they are not eligible for public assistance, or even because of their precarious past, they tend to restrain themselves.
This observation is shared by students, job seekers and young workers, who then give up their studies or their projects. Although there are many public aids for such situations, they are rarely sufficient for those who have no family or financial support, no savings, and no sponsor to back them up and show faith in them.
Therefore, all these disadvantaged young people, motivated but alone, determined but without resources, ambitious but isolated, talented but without perspectives, are at risk of being demotivated and dropping out.
To avoid giving in to the social determinism, La Petite Etoile Foundation seeks to help these deserving young people, disadvantaged by a poor environment, by allowing them to realize their ambitions, i.e. to find housing, to pursue higher education, to access training, to complete a personal project, in short, to help them realize their dream or aspiration, and allow them to have faith in their future despite their difficult past.
The number of grants is limited and they are assigned to the most deserving applicants based on the following criteria:
For studies: have a real motivation for studies, be committed, have a solid academic record, high academic achievement (primary/secondary), being a graduate of a high school, graduate with high grades, be unable to finance higher education.*
For a personal project: be resolute, submit an innovative and solidarity-based project (scientific, social, humanitarian or environmental), be ambitious in the right way, have shown commitment to community activities, be unable to finance your entire project*.
* : The family's income must not exceed 20 000 €/year*
The scholarship allocation includes personalized funding, which may be renewable for an additional year, at the sole discretion of Fondation La Petite Etoile.
Its amount will depend on the nature of the candidate's project and will also trigger an individual follow-up by a sponsor.
